Yes it does look like it would be difficult to include the XBee. You must be comfortable with smd soldering, I have only soldered discrete components so far but I plan to try a few smd chips at some stage. I’ll probably make a board with some TB6612FNG chips on it to make wiring to an arduino easier.

That’s a good idea, a very nice way to expand your outputs. Are you planning to mount your XBee in the cab too?

Those are brilliant looking beacons, how many LEDs are actually inside the beacon? Version three does look good, the difference between them is simply in the code right? If so you could include all three versions in the code and select which one you want to use with your controller, that is something I plan to include on my Massey.

Hi loughfield, Tomek is correct this question isn’t related to this topic so I created a new topic in the RC Tractor section of the forum here and answered your question there. Please try to keep questions in the right topics or create a topic if one doesn’t exist.

This is a great build, what is the little orange cap you use in the second picture? And are those tiny smd LEDs on the end of the wires in the final picture? You must have very steady hands to solder those, I tried before but my hands were very shaky and I ended up with bad solder joints which broke easily.

I can’t transfer the forum content from forum.rctractors.net unfortunately, it’s one of the annoying draw backs of using a free host forum. I had hoped to export all the forum content but it wasn’t possible, I’m afraid we’re starting from scratch with the forum sorry.

Good suggestion, I’ll try get that fixed quickly. My sister designed the site so when she gets some time she’ll sort it out for us.

You don’t have individual control of each motor do you? Maybe you could slow one side down as you steer or something.

Also I’d say you could up the voltage of the motor you have to 5V and see if that was fast enough. I checked the serial number on an N20 motor I had before and the voltage was rated for 1.5 – 6V but was sold as 30rpm at 3volts or something like that.

That’s a pity about the servo, it would take a strong servo to slide all those wheels around. I have my rear wheels free wheeling so it is pretty easy to turn but I don’t have anywhere near your pulling power.

What voltage and rpm are you currently using?

I am in the progress of transferring all the information from rctractors.net to rctractorguy.com, when I have that done I will set up a 301 redirect from rctractors.net to rctractorguy.com so they will be the same page. I’ll do the same for the forum and the blog. It is just taking me a while as I don’t have a huge amount of time but I am nearly finished.

That looks great, it moves at a really nice speed and it is a lot quieter than my model with the Tamiya gearbox. It’s a really nice job.

That is very strange alright, I can’t think of anything to help. I had taught maybe a library interfering or an interrupt but it doesn’t look like you’re using any of those. It can’t be a power problem because your video clearly shows the tractor working fine previously with the delay issue so I really don’t know. Maybe check if servo_val2 is changing for some reason but I don’t see why it should be.

Sounds like you’ve a low to do alright, hopefully that all goes smoothly.

That’s great news, I never would have caught that problem 🙂

Have you much left to add to the model or just squeezing the components into the model now?
